She played a few roles in the soap opera, playing Mrs. Forster in the 90s before returning as Nancy Bliss for two episodes in 2003
The TV star was best known for playing guard Joyce Pringle in Prisoner: Cell Block H, a drama set in a women’s prison that ran from 1979 to 1986.
In one storyline, Joyce was taken hostage by Lou Kelly as she tried to escape, then hospitalized after being attacked by Eve Wilder
Joy’s other TV credits included Cop Shop, Taxi and Bellbird, while Nightmares and The Odd Angry Shot were part of her movie roles
The actress had previously worked with Barry Humphries’ alter, Dame Edna Everage, in one of her first sketches
