Paranormal News first appeared in the summer of 2020 and the series is based on the books of Egyptian writer Ahmed Khaled Tawfik

The story follows a cynical doctor Refaat Ismail (played by Ahmed Amin) who becomes the go-to man for anything out of the ordinary

Netflix has been keen to offer more Arabic content, so there is every hope that this series will be renewed for a second season

Unfortunately, as the first season has only just aired, it is too early to say if a second installment will be given the green light, as the decision will be based on audience numbers

However, fans have already predicted this will be one of the streaming platform’s 2020 hits

If fans are lucky enough to get a second season of Paranormal, they will likely have to wait until 2022 for new episodes

With the coronavirus pandemic halting the production of many series, it is not known when the creators will be able to begin filming for season two

Netflix will also take some time to decide if a second season is worth the investment, as the streaming platform analyzes audience numbers at the end of each quarter.

Amr Salama, co-producer of the series, was certainly hoping it would go well, telling Reuters: « This is one of the projects of my life. I’ve loved (the novels) since I was a kid We try to released (a series) since 2006, so eventually it was shown to the public « 

Egypt is well known for producing some of the most successful Arab films and series, so there are high hopes for the new series

If the series is renewed for a second season, it is hoped that Amin will return in one form or another as the protagonist of the series

The actor said it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as it would be available to fans around the world, thus increasing audiences

He could be joined by his on-screen college colleague Maggie Mckillop (Razane Jammal) and Reem Abd El Kader as Shiraz

Howaida (Ayah Samaha) and Raeefa (Samaa Ibrahem) could also return for another season as they help the doctor unravel truths about the paranormal world

Actor Amin is also known to be a writer and comedian and he has become one of the most viral Egyptians on Facebook with some of his hilarious videos

In this series, he takes on a very different character and his fans are delighted to see him in action

The first season, dubbed in nine different languages, begins in 1969 as Refaat Ismail turns 40

He ends up entering a paranormal world with his colleagues in an effort to save those he loves from harm

The second season would most likely see a time jump, after which the doctor or a family member would resume paranormal activity

As the series is based on books, there are plenty of sources to work with for future seasons, so fans will have to keep their fingers crossed for a renewal

The weird first season trailer shows the hematologist explaining that there is no paranormal, but when a series of weird events happen around him, he is forced to deny his original claims

Fans have compared the series to the popular The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix before, so if it’s as successful as the anthology series, there is certainly hope for a second season

Egyptian viewers hailed the story as one of the best sellers in Middle Eastern history, and they are delighted the rest of the world is getting a taste of it
