After a close race until the wee hours of the morning, it looks like outgoing Democrat Elissa Slotkin has been re-elected to Congress
The battle between Slotkin and Republican challenger Paul Junge had been close all morning, with Junge holding a 9,000-vote lead as the results came in from clerks in Livingston, Ingham and North Oakland counties. But it appears Ingham County’s absentee votes put it above At 7:30 a.m., with nearly 94% of constituencies saying, Slotkin took the lead 509% to 472%. His 210,770 votes compared to 195,582 by Junge
The race between Slotkin, a former CIA analyst of Holly, and Junge, a former TV presenter and Brighton prosecutor, is seen as a key test of whether Democrats can compete in the suburbs where Donald Trump won in 2016 When Slotkin won less than four percentage points over Republican Mike Bishop in 2018, she became the first Democrat to represent the district since 2000.
