BARBARA Windsor could appear as a hologram in a number of new carry-on films, the franchise boss has revealed.

The famous actress, who died of Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday aged 83, could make a posthumous return to the big screen in 2022.

Brian Baker, a director of Carry On Films Ltd, told the star, « We have two new stories and we want to revisit one of the old ones to bring it up to today’s quality – probably Carry On Sergeant.

« Barbara will appear. There will be a tilt of the head to say « well done ». That’s the best way to do it.

« We’re trying to use a hologram made from old footage to put them in a situation like queuing for the Royal Albert Hall or serving in a shop. «

Dame Barbara was synonymous with the British comedy films with nine pictures, including Carry On Camping and Carry On Spying.

Yesterday, The Sun revealed that Barbara will be remembered next year with a memorial celebrating her Cockney roots.

Showbiz stars are expected to attend the event that will mark the life they have lived on stage and on screen.

A family source said, “The memorial, which hopefully will take place later next year, will be a real celebration of Barbara’s life for everyone to enjoy together. ”

A memorial service is expected to take place this month, but only 30 people can attend due to Covid restrictions.

Hubby Scott Mitchell, 57, will play a key role in the planning and is expected to seek help from Barbara’s former EastEnders co-stars.

She played Queen Vic’s landlady, Peggy Mitchell, on the BBC Soap for more than 20 years.

Alzheimer Research UK said yesterday it was « overwhelmed » by donations to the charity after her death.
