The Code Orange episode of Casualty, which finally aired on the BBC tonight, four months after its original air date, did not disappoint fans of the hospital drama

The program, which is now referred to as « The Lost Episode », was not aired at the time because the show’s bosses deemed its broadcast « inappropriate » at the height of the coronavirus pandemic

The episode, actually named « Code Orange, » saw Casualty plunged into chaos as the hospital was forced to close following a chemical attack
The action then shifted to a nearby street where a resident spotted a mysterious-looking figure dropping a suspicious package into her hedge
The litter was found to contain a deadly nerve agent, prompting Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) to lock the hospital’s A&E department into lockdown
The episode was applauded by viewers for its intense action, with some even saying it was BAFTA-worthy
Speaking to Twitter, an impressed Casualty fan said: « Someone informed Bafta and immediately handed the trophy to @BBCCasualty for Code Orange »
While another continued: « Someone calls BAFTA and names this scene for the best moment on TV – so tense, so dramatic UNBELIEVABLE »
A third added: « What an amazing brilliant episode of & omg the cast was exceptional Proud to be a fan of @BBCCasualty #Casualty »
Ahead of its airing, Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama at the BBC, said: « We are really proud of this episode of Casualty and are delighted to share it with audiences
« We know that Casualty fans will be excited to watch the never-before-seen moments of the Fenisha, Will and Ethan love triangle, and see the entire ED come together to fight an unseen threat »
