Leanne Battersby (played by Jane Danson) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) of Coronation Street battled for months after toddler Oliver (Jeremiah and Emmanuel Cheetham) was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease earlier this year, which is affecting his health rapidly deteriorated. And after Leanne defiantly tried to save her son’s life for weeks, the court ruled that his life support had to be turned off last week. Now that she is unable to face the rest of the Weatherfield residents, she decides to travel to France – but will anyone be able to change her mind?
Leanne and Steve’s world collapsed earlier this year when they discovered that their son Oliver was not doing well. And as the toddler continued to fit, it became clear that something was very wrong. The couple received a devastating diagnosis for Oliver and learned that he had a life-limiting illness. In the months that followed, Leanne and Steve – along with other residents of the paving stones – tried to fund Oliver’s treatment.
It wasn’t enough however, and the boy died in heartbreaking scenes on the ITV soap last week.
This week, viewers will see Leanne be gripped by the impact as she tries to grapple with the loss of her little boy.
In the coming episodes, Leanne is surprised when Nick’s son Sam (Jude Riordan) tries to persuade her to stay.
He recites a list of reasons why she might like him more and more, because he really wants to see his father Nick happy.
But it seems to be too late and Leanne has already decided to leave the cobblestones.
Leanne packs the last few things and tells Nick that she will stay with Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) in France.
Nick is depressed by the news, but it seems Leanne doesn’t move as she shares her plans with Toyah (Georgia Taylor). .

Later, Sam’s mother Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) brings her son to Nick and apologizes for destroying Oliver’s memorial.
You’re shocked to hear that Leanne left him and is moving away – but Nick’s son has a plan to try to save things.
But will the boy eventually bring the couple back together, or is Leanne really going to say goodbye to Weatherfield for good?
Elsewhere on the cobblestones, tensions between Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla Connor (Alison King) will continue to build. .
When Peter realizes that Carla has cheated on him with a mysterious man, he blames his brother Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
Since Daniel is innocent, it’s only a matter of time before he finds out who is guilty – his nephew Adam (Sam Robertson). .
