NHS Grampian will Moray’s councilor on health care at Dr. Keep up to date with Gray’s Hospital as there are concerns about limited services and staff welfare.

An NHS Grampian briefing was confirmed after the Conservative group at Moray Council wrote to NHS Grampian’s new Executive Director Professor Caroline Hiscox asking for an update on the hospital situation.

This follows on from concerns of the local population about capacity in the hospital after the introduction of Covid-19 distancing, as well as about the provision of services such as pediatrics, maternity and geriatric care.

Conservative group chairman and Conservative candidate for next year’s Scottish elections, Cllr Tim Eagle (Buckie), said: « The Dr. .

« The residents of Moray understand that Dr. Gray is an integral part of our local healthcare system, but concerns remain about the maternity ward, elderly care staff, and hospital capacity.

« However, it is also clear that after a very difficult time, it is important that employees receive full support during the winter months. I have friends who work in the NHS and I know the pressures they have been under.

« We want to show managers that we are so grateful for the work of the employees, but we also want to be sure that the dedication to service delivery at Dr. Gray continues to be strong, including a strong push in attracting more employees and making sure employees are well looked after and given the time they need to rest.

« We would also like to know that if Dr. Gray, this is only very short-term and appropriate mitigation measures are taken. «

Conservative colleague Cllr Claire Feaver (Forres) said: « Employee wellbeing has been increasing in several places recently. We all need to recognize the wonderful care and dedication of NHS staff. It is these employees who are the real NHS. They defied Covid-19 for us and we now need to make sure they are fully supported. «

Cllr Eagle asked anyone with questions about the services of Dr.. Gray or the NHS to contact us « so we can make sure we are asking the questions the communities need answers to ». .

In September, 32 beds were removed from wards on the hospital grounds in Elgin. Another 10 beds were cut at other Moray hospitals this month, including four at Seafield Hospital in Buckie, three at Turner Memorial Hospital in Keith, and three at Stephen Hospital in Dufftown.

The health authority said all hospitals in the area would need to make the practical changes in efforts to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.
