She took part in the first London Marathon in 1981 and only stopped running a few years ago.
The club said she was « encouraged and an inspiration to many of our older and younger runners » and would be missed.
The run in London 2016 was her 20th. Marathon and after that she confirmed it was her last.
She tackled the first 14 miles before taking the tube to Westminster and walked the last part to the finish at the mall.
At the time, she said she would « never forget » her last attempt, even though she had not fully completed the route.
Just before this final marathon, artist Oliver Winconek was inspired to paint a portrait of the woman he knew when she was working at his children’s school in Bedford.
« I would see her all the time but I hadn’t noticed how many marathons she ran or how much Iva had done for charity, » he said.
« I think she was amazed – but maybe a little flattered that I wanted to paint her. «
Ms. Barr was not the oldest person to ever run a London Marathon.
Fauja Singh, from Ilford, east London, attended the event in 2012 at the age of 101 and was considered the world’s oldest marathon runner when he completed the 2011 Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
The oldest woman to ever run the London Marathon was Jenny Wood-Allen, who was 90 years old in 2002.
