Firefighters are expected to remain on site « late into the night » after a fire broke out at All Saints Church in Mackworth.

A church in Derbyshire has suffered « significant » damage after a large fire ripped through the building.

Firefighters were called to All Saints Church in Mackworth at 4:00 am. Thursday at 30 p.m. and they are expected to stay on site until late at night.

Six fire engines, two aerial platforms and a water carrier were sent to the scene by the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS). .

DFIV area manager Clive Stanbrook said of the scene: “Unfortunately, by the time the firefighters arrived, the fire was so well developed that the church has suffered considerable structural damage.
