While we’re used to all happy families playing on screen, it doesn’t always seem like that this morning.
It’s been a rough year with a pandemic, and multiple feuds on the show sparked fires and even more drama behind the cameras.
It all started after Ruth allegedly filed an official complaint against Phil last April for interrupting her live on the air during a crossover.
The clip in question showed the moderators clash after Phil cut a Loose Women segment and Ruth knocked her pen down in anger.
She was furious after spitting in the air and filed an official complaint with ITV’s contested new head of Daily TV about Philip’s behavior.
A source told The Sun at the time: « Ruth and Eamonn both appear to be treated harshly by Phillip. After Phillip cut her off in the middle of a sentence while hosting Loose Women, she decided that enough was enough. Again nothing changed. ”
The chill between the two did not go unnoticed at the NTAs in January when eagle-eyed spectators noticed the smoldering « uncomfortable tension ». .
The presenters didn’t look at each other as they made their way to receive the award for the Live Magazine show.
NTA’s viewers noted that Phillip was keen to give Ruth some time to say a few words, but she didn’t return his thoughts.
He thanked the team and said, « Eamonn and Ruth, your Fridays are fantastic. We love you so much. You should say something I think. «
Ruth kept looking forward to it when she thanked Phillip, who touched her arm, for his kind words.
They insisted there was no problem between Phillip and his co-host, Holly, and described him as a popular member of the team.
« It is deeply disappointing and unfair for Phillip to be the target of this type of malicious gossip, » said a spokeswoman for the station.
« Phillip is a very well respected broadcaster and colleague, and this is absolutely not a description of This Morning that we recognize.
« Holly and Phil are great friends both on and off screen, and popular with viewers and colleagues alike. «
Amanda Holden was one of them and wasted no time standing up for Ruth amid her own feud with Phillip.
Amanda praised Ruth for her complaint against Phil after being asked about the revelations that a « civil war » is brewing as a number of presenters are unhappy with the host’s stance behind the scenes.
When Ashley Roberts referred to the supposed drama behind the scenes, presenter Jamie Theakston said, « If only we had someone here who could shed some light on the darkness. . . «
Amanda laughed at the comment and said, « Jamie, listen, I drew a line. . . All I’m going to say is that I admire everyone who stands up for themselves as this is not easy.
« There’s a can opener and a can somewhere, and other people found the opener. «
Amanda went on to veil Phillip again after Ruth posted a picture of herself and her husband Eamonn Holmes clutching the NTA gong after the event.
Next to the snapshot she wrote: “Time to go home… one last picture with our tenth @ officialntas award !! @eamonnholmes @thismorning #nta. ”
The pair are believed to have banned Horns after Schofe prevented them from replacing Holly Willoughby on the ITV sofa while their co-host was busy with I A A Celeb commitments.
The role was eventually taken on by Rochelle Humes after it was said that Phillip had told bosses he didn’t want to work with Amanda.
But while Amanda was hurt a bit by the rumors, it seems like Amanda was dying to get past the drama.
To do this, the mother of two hoped to have a coffee with the host just for him to ignore her text messages.
Speaking to her radio host Jamie, Amanda said, « I moved on, Jamie, you have to move on. «
He replied, « You may have moved on, but I just wanted to know if there was more to the story. «
The TV favorite said: « I offered to meet him for coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. « What can I say? » she replied before Jamie pressed, « The olive branch had been extended. «
Another alleged feud that drew viewers’ attention this year was between Ruth and Alison Hammond.
After it was revealed that Alison will replace Ruth and Eamonn’s weekly Friday slot on the show alongside Dermot O’Leary, Ruth reportedly seems to have had a hard time adjusting to the sudden news.
Tensions are reported to have been high since the news broke, particularly between her and Ruth.
Although Ruth denies there is tension, Alison has now admitted that not everyone who works for the show is actually friends.
In conversation with the Sun, Alison said, « We’re not on top of each other, you know what I mean? »
Alison admitted that friends like Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are very close together, although many are not friends behind the cameras.
« Phillip and Holly, you are vacationing together. They really love each other, in a brother and sister way, « Alison said.
« But literally when we’re done everyone wants to go home to their families and see them. We did it just right I think. But no, they all go and do their own thing. «
Ruth has since denied the existence of bad blood between them after bashing people starting their careers on reality television when Alison started her career on Big Brother.
Ruth said to Mirror Notebook: « We set the job. We didn’t do a reality show and got a job on television overnight. We got through the ranks.
« Eamonn was only 19 when he started. And he did the tea time news in Belfast during The Troubles.
« It was heavy stuff. And he now has an OBE for broadcast services, « she added.
Rumors of tension between Alison and Ruth heightened when Ruth presented Loose Women and headed to This Morning Studio, where Alison was presenting alongside Phillip Schofield.
The audience flinched after Ruth didn’t even recognize Alison, who stood for Holly Willoughby, and instead spoke to Phil.
Amid the shock, rumors have risen that the drama is gushing behind the scenes, and the cheeky Eamonn hinted that a behind-the-scenes look at the station would make for a good reality TV series on tonight’s episode.
When he and Ruth interviewed the cast of the newest member of the Real Housewives franchise – The Real Wives Of Jersey – the broadcaster teased that ITV was going to start a spin-off show called The Real TV Presenters from ITV.
He seemed to make it clear, however, that not all of the station’s talent would make the cut, as he was missing out on Holly and Philip and Alison and Dermot from the joke cast list.
He suggested that it would be full of drama to keep up with the Real Housewives shows that crowd in when they watch all the fiery feuds and catfights, adding, « That would be a good point of view! »
The couple are reportedly « angry » that they will no longer host the popular show on Fridays and plan to host a competing show on a different channel if notified.
