In a series of tweets, he called on Governor Brian Kemp to convene a special session of the state assembly.

It was hours before Mr Trump attended a rally in Georgia for the upcoming Senate runoff election.

The President still refuses to admit, claiming without evidence that Mr Biden’s victory was due to fraud.

He has initiated legal challenges in several states, but so far nearly all have failed.

Georgia was a major battlefield state in the elections, and Joe Biden’s narrow victory – the first time the state had elected a Democrat since 1992 – helped seal his victory.

It is now at the center of an intense political battle for control of the Senate. If the Democrats win the two runoff elections there in January, the Republicans will lose control of the House of Lords.

Mr Kemp tweeted back that he had « publicly requested a signature audit three times, » to which Trump replied, « Your people refuse to do what you ask. What are they hiding? « 

He added: « At least ask for a special session of the legislature immediately. You can do that easily and immediately. « 

Later, Mr. Trump again targeted Mr. Kemp when addressing supporters in Valdosta, Georgia – his first post-election rally – saying the governor had to « get much tougher ». .

President Trump told the cheering crowd that he could still win the election. Repeating his unsubstantiated claims, he said: « You cheated and rigged our presidential election, but we will win it anyway. « . «
