Police officers came across the scene on a property on Dixon Road when the alarm went off at 9 a.m.. Tuesday morning 30 o’clock.
Emergency services flooded the area with police, fire brigade, ambulance and support staff on site.
A neighboring house has been evacuated and a cordon has been erected around the damaged property to protect the public.
A police spokesman said: « Around 9. On Tuesday the 8th. At 30 a.m. on December 31, 2020, police and emergency services were called to a report of an explosion in a house on Dixon Road in Whitburn.
« The male head of household was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he is treated by medical staff.
“Currently no details of injuries – if any. A neighboring house was evacuated as a precaution.
“The emergency services remain on site and are supported by the responsible utility companies. The council is aware of this.
