« Calling for the end of Buhari means you are trying to dig your grave and next week will be battle week We will eliminate anyone who says or carries the sign of’ end Buhari » in Abuja or elsewhere « – Maiwada A Mohammed (maiwada_muhd), Twitter, October 17, 2020

We see them as a clear and unequivocal threat to life and a disturbing expression of intent to maim, kill and destroy those of us who think Buhari should step down

Yet we are not intimidated and I take the opportunity to repeat it loud and clear that Buhari’s resignation from power is the only way forward

I say this because it is painfully obvious that there can never be any meaningful reform of the police and security agencies, nor can #endars really happen and last unless and until Buhari leaves power

You can’t change the cruel state of mind of a ruthless, bitter, vengeful, belligerent, mundane, unenlightened, insular and provincial 80 year old veteran and general and the rude, rogue thinking of a violent, vicious, retrograde, backward and oppressive antediluvian dinosaur

You cannot force such a creature to reform the instruments of coercion upon which its very survival depends

As credible, laudable, vital, noble, necessary and important, the #EndPoliceBrutality and #EndSARS protests and initiatives are for anyone well thought out, reasonable and rational, they are nothing but a slight irritation and meaningless slogans for a man who has not turned out to be totally deaf to aspirations and blind to the sad fate of his people but also a man who derives only sadistic pleasure from seeing his citizens and compatriots suffer and who has shown only repressive, oppressive, brutal and savage instincts and practice throughout his adult and public life

The tyrants, elected or not democratically, have little respect for the will of the people and do not bow to reason They regard these demonstrations and these courageous young men and women in the streets as mere irritants with little more than a harmful value

This is why a senior official in the Presidency can go on Channels TV and say that these peaceful but astonishing protests, which rocked our nation and amazed the world, cannot be properly described as real protests, but rather like a small handful of people disturbing others in various cities across the country

This is how deaf and dumb Buhari and his men are, deceived and detached from reality. Some of them are even worse and clearly suffer from insatiable and psychopathic thirst for blood

They really want to shed and shed innocent blood and openly boast about it These are the types the Psalms describe as « evil and bloodthirsty men » Possessed by evil spirits and propelled by dark forces , they are not only dangerous but they are also sociopathic in nature

Worse yet, they see the protesters as nothing more than « tiny ants », « dirty cockroaches » and « jobless bad guys » who must be treated with « an iron fist », « wiped off the surface of the earth ”and“ Completely crushed ”

It’s not rocket science to understand that those who share this collectively morbid and malicious mindset are not about to do anything reasonable or responsible or address legitimate concerns as good people in this country have about police brutality

And in case you have any doubts about that, think about the burning of 200 cars that belonged to #EndSARS protesters in Apo, Abuja by pro-Buhari and pro-SARS rioters and thugs who are also occupied killing, maiming, threatening and chasing #EndSARS protesters all over town every day

And in case that doesn’t get you thinking, consider the prison break in Benin City and sponsorship of thugs to infiltrate and cause trouble during the #EndSARS protests to create the illusion of l ‘anarchy and to justify sending the military to « restore public order » during which they will kill a large number of innocent people

Simply put, Buhari’s government would rather pay thugs and sponsor killer squads to attack the citizens they have sworn to protect rather than do the right thing!

In light of all this, don’t expect too much from Buhari and his team despite their promises of reform and change. The only changes and reforms they can offer are cosmetic in nature and meaningless and designed to create a false sense of reasonable behavior, compromise and decency

Yet the truth is that Buhari cannot be trusted and would rather die than give in to those who make these demands. Only the gullible can be fooled by his strategy of « telling them what they want » hear but do what you want «

If you really want a new Nigeria or a restructured Nigeria where the rights of the people and the principle of self-determination will be respected and where police and military brutality and savagery will end and be a thing of the past then you must muster the courage to demand that Buhari resign and step down for his sheer callousness, heartless impunity and dismal leadership failure and for the massive amount of innocent blood that has been shed and the brazen anarchy that has been displayed beneath his watch

Until that happens, there cannot and will not be fundamental change and the brutality of the police and security agencies will simply continue

Let me conclude this contribution with the following: In 2014 Buhari asked President Jonathan to step down due to insecurity In 2013 Buhari himself along with other leading members of the opposition d ‘so came out and marched through the streets against Jonathan

Nobody threatened them Nobody accused them of trying to subvert the state or destabilize the country Nobody dismissed them with contempt nor subjected them to brutal insults, threats and reprisals

/ p>

No one brought out thugs and disbelievers to attack them, kill them and burn their cars. No one opened the prison doors and accused them of searching and releasing prisoners

No one gave them unprintable names and threatened to take troops out into the streets to kill them No one threatened to wipe them off the face of the earth with an iron fist or turn it into a tribal war

Those who say that we have no right to say that Buhari must resign due to the prevailing circumstances in our country have no right to tell us what to say or do and are nothing more than irreverent and intolerant beasts

They have a lot to learn about the meaning and true nature of democracy, citizens’ rights and freedom of expression There is nothing illegal or irresponsible about asking for the resignation of a leader democratically elected where and when it failed

When things go wrong, a leader must be prepared to take full responsibility and follow the path of honor by stepping back This is especially true when sections of his security agencies have been turned into a Gestapo murderous and ruthless who rejoices in killing innocent people, where law and order have failed and anarchy seems to prevail

I advise those who spend their time threatening the rest of us and swearing to kill us for calling on Buhari to step down to stop stoking a fire that they may not once be able to contain he will trigger I advise them not to start a massive and uncontrollable conflagration in our county which may well end in civil war and the final disintegration of Nigeria

In 2003, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the following: “Muhammadu Buhari is an agent of destabilization, an ethnic fanatic and a religious fanatic who, if given the chance, would ensure the disintegration of the country Its ethnocentrism would jeopardize the national unity of Nigeria «

Tinubu’s words were prophetic and he was clearly right Thanks to Buhari, Nigeria is on the brink

I close with the following Emperor Haile Sellasi 1 of Ethiopia once said: “Throughout history it is the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who who should have known better and the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered as much as possible for the evil of triumph ”

That’s right We have to get rid of all fear and keep talking and resisting the tyranny, injustice and wickedness that thrive in our country lest evil triumph It is our duty and our call as children of light and believers in God This is the risk we must take and the price we must pay for a better future We are lions: we are not afraid

May the Lord guide us, deliver us, defend us and help us and may his angels jealously guard us night and day

Muhammadu Buhari, End SARS, Nigeria
