Los Angeles look to improve to 3-4 with victory over division rivals Denver

The Chargers started the game on defense and forced a three-and-out start As Los Angeles opened up offensive possession, quarterback Justin Herbert threw his first interception in three games to safety Justin Simmons, who sent him back 46 yards on the Chargers 16-yard line

MOON The Broncos defense held the Broncos to a 35-yard field goal from Brandon McManus, which gave Denver a 3-0 lead

Denver had nine games for 19 yards and zero first downs in the first quarter The Chargers offense had four first downs, including a 22-yard run by Joshua Kelley and a 19-yard reception from Herbert to wide receiver Mike Williams LUNE was also 2 out of 5 on the third try

The Bolts opened the second quarter against a fourth and a Denver 25, but returned the ball to the lows when Kelley was stuck behind the line of scrimmage The Broncos couldn’t capitalize on the drive who followed and were forced to punt

Later in the quarter, Herbert found Justin Jackson to win 34 – either team’s longest play so far – and a 22-yard finish to Keenan Allen on the next play gave the Bolts a first and -scoring opportunity They capitalized with Herbert finding Allen for a nine-yard lead and a 7-3 lead

The Chargers defense then forced a quick three and an out that restored possession to the offense Jackson put the ball roughly in midfield with a minute left in the second quarter A monster caught and thrown at Williams set the ball up in Denver two and a game later Herbert found full-back Gabe Nabers in the end zone to lead, 14-3

The Chargers ‘defense kept the Broncos’ offense to just 60 yards and one of seven for third in the first half The two rushing yards they allowed are tied for the third short in the first half half of team history

After scoring before half-time, the Chargers got the ball to start the second half Herbert led a 10-play, 75-yard practice that culminated in a 24-yard touchdown pass to Williams, who scored with one hand Herbert joined Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson as the only rookies in league history to throw three touchdowns in four straight games

After a 53-yard field goal from Michael Badgley, who took the Chargers’ lead to 24-3, the Broncos responded with a 55-yard touchdown by Phillip Lindsay Until this game, the Chargers had passed the Broncos 152 to 4

The Los Angeles defense regained control when security Rayshawn Jenkins intercepted Lock and returned him 23 yards on the Denver 24-yard line But three games later, Herbert threw his second interception of the game – this one against cornerback Bryce Callahan – while targeting Williams in the end zone
