UPDATE: 12:25 p.m .: Classes at a Gladstone school resumed Monday morning after a bomb threat.
A spokesman for the Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton said around 9:50 a.m. at Chanel College that Gladstone had been bombed.
He said the headmistress, Dr. Susan Bunkum, and the school staff immediately initiated the emergency management procedures of Catholic education.
« The school has been evacuated and parents have been notified by text message in accordance with procedures as the safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance, » said the Catholic Education spokesman.
« The Queensland police responded immediately notified and conducted a full search of the college. “The police declared the school safe and said that normal classes could be resumed.
“The school staff supports the students in ensuring that any fears caused by the evacuation are allayed.
« Chanel College is fully cooperating with the police investigation and thanks the police for their support and quick response. »
FIRST REPORT: 11.30am Police were in after reports of a bomb on the premises on Monday morning a Gladstone School.
A Queensland police spokesman said Gladstone Police were informed of an alleged bomb at Chanel College at 10:10 am.
