A scoreless draw against Chelsea followed, with United subsequently beating RB Leipzig 5-0 at home in an impressive display

Dimitar Berbatov says it is too early for Manchester United to be considered Premier League and Champions League contenders

Former United striker Berbatov believes victory over Leipzig will boost United’s confidence considerably, but he cautioned against getting carried away

Berbatov told Betfair: «  This home result will do wonders for United’s confidence as their home record has not been fantastic Not only did they win at home, but they beat Leipzig 5-0! It’s an incredible result

Berbatov believes manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves recognition for improving United’s fortunes, but added his former side need to be more consistent

Berbatov said: ‘Ole deserves to be recognized for performances like this, this can’t be a situation where good results are the players, bad results are the manager, it doesn’t work

‘I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that United can suddenly win the Premier League or the Champions League, it’s too early and they have to get that word back – consistent

‘They’ve been lacking that lately, if they find that, one can wonder about the titles, but they have to win games regularly’

United, who are 15th in the Premier League, will look to move up the rankings when they host Arsenal on Sunday

In the Champions League, United are at the top of Group H after taking maximum points from their two matches so far
