. . The Eagles played against a number of backups and young players in their season finale. the Washington Football Team.

. .

The Eagles season ended on Sunday evening in an embarrassingly compassionate way. Since it was all about drafting a position, the Birds chose to rely heavily on unproven young players, and that reliance only worsened as their 20-14 loss to Washington Football Team continued. Jalen Hurts was eventually deployed in favor of third quarterback Nate Sudfeld, who was struggling to generate more offensive production and flipped the ball twice. Defense played Rudy Ford, a security, at cornerback throughout the game, and the decision to opt for fourth relegation often fell short of conventional wisdom and analytical advice. The Eagles will finish this season 4-11-1, finishing sixth on the NFL draft. That ends a year likely to be remembered when the season fell apart for Carson Wentz. It is expected to be Jim Schwartz’s final game as the team’s defensive coordinator and more managerial changes should follow. For players like Zach Ertz, Jason Kelce and Brandon Graham, it may also be the last game at Eagles’ Green.

The Giants were big Eagles fans tonight, and some of their players didn’t like Doug Pederson’s decision to use his backup quarterback in a one-ball game. The decision looked even worse when Nate Sudefeld had two drives finished with sales.

Shortly before half-time, Logan Thomas grabbed a touchdown pass directly over T. . J. . Edwards. This time Edwards prevailed against Thomas. Edwards undercut Thomas’s route when the narrow end slipped. It was his first career interception.

The Eagles drew Jalen Hurts in favor of Nate Sudfeld at 12:35 in the fourth quarter, the final step to ensure the team received the best possible draft pick. Assuming the night of Hurts is over, his four games as a starter have been ups and downs. He went 7 against 20 and had a 25. 4 pass rating but scored two goals as a runner and kept the Eagles competitive with an offensive full of players from the training team in key positions.

You can’t blame Doug Pederson. The Eagles have nothing to lose but the draft position. Marcus Epps somehow caught where he was attacking and catching the ball at the same time. The interception of Epps brought the Eagles up 15 yards from the end zone. Jalen Hurts threw three incomplete passes out of the four yard area, resulting in a turnover with Downs. Despite all the good hurts he’s done on the ground, he’s fought his way through the air just as much. He’s 7-for-20 with 72 yards going through three quarters.

Both teams exchanged blows in the first half, but Washington delivered the final blow. The Eagles aren’t the only ones with a former college quarterback making big catches. Washington’s Logan Thomas picked up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith over blanket coverage from T. . J. . Edwards. Thomas needed every inch of his six foot six frame.

Washington’s line of defense has no answer to Hurts Early. Despite her ability to get into the backcourt, Hurts seems to slip away and find quick alleys. The most recent example was his second quick touchdown. The six-yard score put the Eagles in the lead after an ugly start. Hurts leads the Eagles in a rush with six runs for 27 yards. He also had a 30 yard completion to J. . J. . Arecega-Whiteside.

The NBC broadcast team said they asked Jalen Hurts if he was worried about Washington’s line of defense and he replied that they should be worried about him. So far this has proven correct. Washington has come under pressure, but the elusive injuries are not easy to deal with. He passed defender Montez Sweat and threw another defender on his six-meter touchdown run. The Eagles’ journey lasted 10 games and totaled 75 meters.

Perhaps Rudy Ford’s New Years resolution was to play a different position. The Eagles’ safety began at the outside corner as virtually every corner of the squad outside of Darius Slay was injured. Ford, usually an ace on a special team, only played seven defensive snaps all season prior to tonight.

The Eagles drove the ball close to midfield on their first run. Doug Pederson went 4-2, which was a bit of a surprise considering the Birds have nothing to lose. The Washington Football team played much more aggressively on their inaugural run. Alex Smith found Washington’s No.. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin on a 5 yard touchdown pass. The journey lasted 15 games and went 91 meters. Washington converted four-thirds down. The absence of Derek Barnett and Fletcher Cox is likely to show up on third runs. Washington has one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, and the Eagles struggled to pressurize without two of their best weapons.

Doug Pederson decided to finish 4th on the Eagles’ first run. and 2. Place in midfield. Under normal circumstances, this would be a questionable decision. The team’s chances of winning usually increase when coaches for the 4th. and short game near midfield. In a meaningless game, however, the probability of winning may not be the primary focus.

Good evening, Eagles fans. Welcome to the 16th. and final iteration of the live blog on game day of the Eagles. Greetings from a wet and cold night at Lincoln Financial Field as the Birds prepare for the season finale against the Washington Football Team. Washington will win NFC East with one win, while the Eagles would win a top six draft pick with one loss.

The Eagles aren’t directly fueling this game, but they’re not putting their best foot forward either. Some starters, including Fletcher Cox, Miles Sanders, Jordan Mailata and Dallas Goedert, have been suspended from training due to injuries and will not play. Don’t be surprised if it looks more like a preseason line-up tonight as the team takes a look at younger players for the next year. Even Jalen Hurts might get an early catch depending on how things are going.

If the Eagles were indeed playing spoilers, the Giants would win the NFC East after beating the Dallas Cowboys (23:19) to finish the season 6-10 today. This is the NFC East for you.

Doug Pederson will not be the Eagles’ last coach tonight. Jeff McLane and colleagues have really confirmed that the manager is expected to return next season before meeting up with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie at the end of the season.

Pederson may be back, but the defensive side of the coaching staff will change a lot in the off-season. As Les Bowen reports, Jim Schwartz’s defense coordinator plans to let his contract expire after today’s game.

The rumor mill about Carson Wentz is also in turmoil. The quarterbacks’ relationship with Pederson has been severed and a trade request is expected soon, according to an ESPN report. Paul Domowitch has the details.

What will happen to Howie Roseman in the off-season? Marcus Hayes argues that the general manager deserves more power.
