. . World News – US – Gov. . Roy Cooper announces a new Executive Order that will impose stricter face coverage requirements

RALEIGH – Gov. . Roy Cooper announced a new regulation that introduces stricter requirements for face covering.

« Our national mask requirement has been in place since June and is still our best weapon in this fight. Today’s Executive Order will tighten that mandate further and make it clear that everyone must wear a mask when you’re with someone they don’t live with, ”Cooper said at the media availability on Monday at the Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh.

Executive Order 180 comes into effect on Wednesday November. 25 and runs through Friday, Dec. . 11.

« I have a strong warning for the North Carolinians today: we are in danger, » said Gov. . cooper. “This is a crucial moment in our fight against the coronavirus. Our actions now will determine the fate of many. ”

Additionally, the order adds the mask requirement to several additional settings, including all indoor public spaces, even if it is 6 feet apart. Fitness studios also for sports; all public and private schools; and any public or private transportation when traveling with someone outside of the household. In addition, large retailers with more than 15. 000 square meters, station an employee near the entrances to ensure that masks are worn and to set the occupancy limits for customers entering.

The ordinance updates the requirements in public places, stating that face covers must be worn indoors when someone is sitting down with non-household members, and also outdoors when it is not possible to consistently be more than three feet from non-household members. The requirements also apply to people who are at least five years old, unless an exception is made, and are recommended for people over two years of age.

When asked by a reporter, Cooper replied that the mandate would place a greater burden on businesses and retailers to enforce the mask mandate.
