« I initially thought I was going to be a Red Sox for life, » said Betts, who signed a 12-year, $ 365 million contract extension with the Dodgers in July, » but God always has a plan for things I was just following what he told me to do «

Ortiz then asked if Betts or fellow Los Angeles superstar LeBron James would have the last table at a local restaurant if they walked around at the same time
Betts first said James would get the nod, then he joked, « I’m going to fight him for that »
Ortiz told Betts it was hard to see him with the Dodgers but admitted Betts looked good in the uniform They agreed that putting aside stats and accolades went a long way in winning , and Betts said Ortiz helped him achieve what was most important from the start
Betts concluded by sharing what winning a World Series with the Dodgers would mean for him, and Ortiz said he was shooting for him throughout
