Critics of NBC’s move suggest it is giving the president undue airtime and that the program will keep viewers away from Biden’s town hall. Among those voicing their opposition to the move on social media are current and past NBC staff, as well as stars and celebrities with big platforms, including Katie Couric, Conan O’Brien, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Barbra StreisandMore than 100 Hollywood actors, producers and directors including Ava DuVernay, JJ Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Aaron Sorkin have signed a petition sent to NBC Universal and Comcast to oppose the town hall schedule
