Adolf Hitler Uunona received 85 percent of the vote in the former German colony, but says he has no plans for world domination.
Mr. Uunona won the seat to become part of the ruling SWAPO (South West Africa People’s Organization) party.
The politician told Bild that he had nothing to do with National Socialist ideology and added: « My father named me after this man. He probably didn’t understand what Adolf Hitler stood for.
« As a kid, I saw it as a perfectly normal name. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I understood that this man wanted to conquer the whole world. «
He said his wife called him Adolf and that he passed Adolf Uunona and believed that it was « too late » to officially change his name.
He continued, « The fact that I have that name doesn’t mean that I want to conquer Oshana. That doesn’t mean that I strive for world domination. «
According to MailOnline, Uunona won 1 in the most recent elections. 196 votes against 213 votes for his opponent, which gave him a seat on the regional council.
The Adolf Hitler with whom Mr. Uunona is compared was a German politician and leader of the NSDAP.
During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he initiated the Second World War in Europe. September 1939 invaded Poland. He was closely involved in military operations throughout the war and played a central role in the conduct of the Holocaust.
