Georgian football coach Kirby Smart and Bulldogs look to maintain their national title hopes with victory over Tennessee on Saturday

The No The 3rd ranked Georgia team scored 24 unanswered points to beat the 14th ranked No 44-21

Tennessee gained just 71 yards in 39 games in the second half and finished with under-1 rushing yards on 27 attempts

ATHENS – Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs will look across the pitch on Saturday and see lots of familiar faces dressed in orange, on the sideline and in the coaches’ booth

The No 3 (2-0) ranked Bulldogs host a 14th-ranked (2-0) Tennessee No that runs an eight-game winning streak in eight Power 5 conference games

The Vols do it with 25 players on their Georgia state roster, along with former Bulldog offensive lineman Cade Mays and former UGA assistant coaches Jeremy Pruitt, Jim Chaney and Will Friend

Chaney is the coach that Georgia fans are most intrigued by, as he will call the games against a Georgian defense that leads the SEC in all major statistical categories

« He’s got a lot of stuff, (but) it’s not like he can run everything against us, » Smart said of Chaney, who served alongside him from 2016 to 2018 in Athens. « It’s basically, ‘What is he going to do and what is he going to do with it? What will he wear this game? and how we can adapt to it, quickly ’’

Tennessee took the lead over Georgia last season and led 14-13 with two minutes left in the second quarter at Neyland Stadium before the Bulldogs returned for a 43-14 victory

« Chaney has been against our defense for a very long time, Pruitt knows our defense, they know the ins and outs, » said Smart « But at the end of the day you have to block the person in front of you Tu gotta move some people You gotta hit them so they present a challenge to be able to run the ball

« They have really great spreads They have a very experienced quarterback who is going to get them in the right play They have full backs who catch the ball in the backfield I expect to see a bit of a vacuum from from Coach Chaney, because he likes to do that – change things… Sometimes they go with the beat and go fast «

Georgia are ready to roll with former QB Stetson Bennett, who makes up for his lack of size and arm strength with mobility and moxie

UGA slots player Kearis Jackson made 9 catches for 147 yards last week, but George Pickens only had two receptions

Smart explained it wasn’t by design, and Pickens will be more involved in the game plan this week

« The other night there were a few that were designed for George, but something happened where he ran into a linebacker once on a crossing route, and he didn’t so couldn’t hit George and he found Kearis, « Smart said » On another they brought (a blanket) over George, so he went to the other side and found Kearis And then he there were screens designed for Kearis «

The Bulldogs, as always, will be looking to establish a ground game with Zamir White, who has yet to break a 20-yard run in one of his previous three starts.

Georgia could also see more Kenny McIntosh in the backfield with questionable James Cook due to the shoulder injury he suffered in last Saturday’s 27-6 win over Auburn
