The state of Arizona received its first engagement for the 2022 class on Friday from kicker Carter Brown of Dawson High School in Pearland, Texas.

Brown, 6-foot-1, and 185 pounds, said ASU’s recent excellence with specialty teams and their success in transitioning players from college to the NFL, including kicker Zane Gonzalez of the Arizona Cardinals and punter Matt Haack from Miami Dolphins, played a major role in his decision.

« It really starts with the great coaching they have, » said Brown. « You really can’t beat it, especially for someone like me. Brown made unofficial visits to Clemson, Houston, and Texas to A&M before the COVID-19-related deadtime began in March. He hasn’t been to Tempe yet, but plans to do so as soon as he’s allowed.
