World News – USA – Aliens confuse Zooey Deschanel with Katy Perry in the music video « Not the End of the World »

Even in the last moments on earth, people will still confuse Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel.

In the music video for Perry’s « Not the End of the World, » which the pop singer dropped on Monday morning, a spaceship full of benevolent blue-skinned aliens kidnaps Deschanel and thinks she is Perry, who she adores and wants to save from us who exhausted Planet comes to its premature demise. The New Girl star, who always thinks quickly, plays along and tries on costumes and props from the time of the Teenage Dream in the hope that she and her fellow travelers can save the earth.

Perry teased the video on her social media channels on Sunday and will host an Instagram Live with Deschanel to discuss the clip at 1 p.m.. m. ET / 10 a. m. PT followed by group meditation. Perry, an astrology enthusiast (and Scorpio), appears to have purposely timed the video’s release to coincide with Monday’s « Great Conjunction », when Jupiter and Saturn both entered Aquarius and are closer together than the two planets are almost 400 years. Many astrologers cite the conjunction as an energetic turning point that will usher in a new age of Aquarius.

« Not the End of the World » comes from Perry’s fifth studio album « Smile », which came out at the end of the summer. In the run-up to the release, the singles « Smile », « Daisies » and « Never Really Over » (the latter was originally released as an independent single in 2019) received dedicated videos. In the weeks after the release of Smile, Perry released new videos for seven of his 12 songs in the so-called « The Smile Video Series », each of which was rendered in a certain style, mostly using different animation techniques. Following that series, she released a video for « Teary Eyes, » which consists of behind-the-scenes footage (« Behind the Smile » as she put it), a video for a remix of « Resilient, » and now the Deschanel star « Not the end of the world. « 

This year was a new era for Perry in several ways: Just days before Smile was released, the singer gave birth to her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom, a daughter named Daisy Dove. Perry had previously announced her pregnancy as only she could: At the end of the music video for “Never Worn White. ”
