Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield took the opportunity during the Sugar Bowl Friday night to express his thoughts on former Sooners Running Backs coach Jay Boulware, now at the University of Texas, for his treatment of Trey Sermon in Ohio, USA during his time at Norman.
Mayfield tweeted Boulware with a photo of Sermon going viral as a meme generator after being blasted 193 meters against secondary Clemson. This came after Sermon’s record performance in the Big Ten Championship Game when he ran over Northwestern for 331 yards and two touchdowns.
« How’s UT, » Mayfield wrote, referring to Boulware’s decision to leave the Sooners for the Longhorns after Sermon was transferred to the state of Ohio.
In a proprietary tweet, Boulware replied to Mayfield, saying, « And thank you for realizing how good the RBs I recruited are. «
Preach has been unstoppable in the last couple of starts and overrun the defenders with over 600 meters in his last three games. Over three years in Oklahoma hurried preaching for 2. 076 yards and 22 points.
« Yeah, I mean, it started with the game in Michigan, » said Ohio state coach Ryan Day after the Sugar Bowl. « That was the first one he kind of – I think a coming-out party is the best way to put it. We didn’t get the extra hat. It was ugly, but we had to make it work and these guys played well. «
Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director and former NFL scout Jim Nagy recently compared Sermon to former Alabama star Josh Jacobs.
« Josh Jacobs was a backup in college and is a stallion in the NFL, » tweeted Nagy. « Trey Sermon was a backup in college and he’s going to be a stud in the NFL. Rate the player, not the depth map. A big part of scouting is evaluating each player’s circumstances. «
