Q: As a native New Yorker, how do you feel when you come home to take part in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which has been part of the town’s holiday season for nearly a century?

A: I am very excited to see my family and look forward to being part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My family and I have seen the parade every year, it’s a family tradition. I’m so happy to be on the Jennie-O-Wagen because their meatballs are actually my favorite. My mom made them all the time.

Q: In a year where everyone has to celebrate the holidays differently than usual, why do you think it was important that the parade still go on in some way?

A: Even if people can’t go to the parade in person, I think families will enjoy watching them from home. It’s really nice that you can still wear it. It brings a feeling of unity, togetherness and warmth.

Q: There won’t be a live audience at the parade this year, and the live music industry has largely stalled since March. As someone who has toured regularly in recent years, what do you miss most about the traditional concert experience?

A: I mostly miss being able to share the live music with my fans. There’s something about the energy in the room when you’re at a live show that is so special to me.

Q: With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I have to ask: What are you thankful for in 2020?

A: I am grateful for my family, friends, and my bear dog. I am grateful for the feeling of unity among all people.
