In a pilot project, the consumer electronics giant has redesigned four stores in the Twin Cities region, reducing the area used for shopping by an average of 27. 000 sq. ft. until about 15. 000 sq. ft. , reported the Star Tribune. Customers can still shop for Best Buy’s core product categories, but the amount of goods on display in each product has been reduced.
The store was remodeled to include a large wall separating the retail space from the fulfillment space, the report said. The checkout, customer service and pick-up area of the store have been relocated to an area with service counters built into the wall, which customers can go to.
