Candace Cameron Bure has decided to celebrate the New Year by posting a recent family photo on social media. But when the star read some of the comments below, she lost that festive feel.
« I posted my family Christmas photo and unfortunately there were so many unfriendly comments, » she wrote in a Facebook post. « Do you find it funny to criticize someone’s children? Joke about them? To criticize our poses? Which way are we looking? Our physical appearance and facial expressions? I wish everyone blessings as I shared it in the spirit of a Happy New Year, yet so many of you came back with jokes about how we looked and criticized what you thought was a better photo. ”
The photo in question, taken by photographer Melissa Coulier (who is married to Bure’s former Full House co-star Dave Coulier), was shared on Instagram and featured Bure alongside husband Valeri and their three children, daughter Natasha. 22 and the sons Lev (20) and Maksim (18). But it wasn’t your typical vacation photo with a Christmas tree and matching pajamas. Instead, the pro shot showed the family standing behind a house looking in different directions and offering very different expressions.
Free commentators compared the polished image to a country music album cover, and several said it could be for a Ralph Lauren ad. But then there were the other commentators who took the photo apart.
« This is a very strange photo, » wrote one person who went on to say that one of Bure’s sons « looks stoned », that her daughter « looks like an evil queen from Disney » and « would fire the photographer « » Based on the picture.
In response to this feeling, the actor’s daughter also made her own comment on Instagram and wrote: « Oh my god, I didn’t smile or look at the camera. Sue me !!! ”
« Shame on you, » Bure continued on her Facebook post, targeting the negativity. « It doesn’t matter if you’re 10 or 90 years old, rude is rude. Be better than that. I pray for humanity. Manners and respect. If you don’t like something, just keep going. Behind every screen are people and real emotions. ”
She added a postscript that read, « Please don’t tell me to ignore the » haters. « There were a lot of well-meaning people who thought it would be fun to point things out and share their comments, » with love. « Umm. . . this is not love. That’s impolite. Try nice. It looks great on everyone. ”
This Facebook post has more than 57. 000 responses collected. Mostly positive responses praise the actor, her family and the photo.
