India versus Australia 2. ODI: Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya finally returned to bowling in top cricket after more than a year when the 27-year-old played four overs in the second ODI against Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
Pandya underwent back surgery in the UK last October after having troubled his lower back since testing in England in 2018.
The operation kept Pandya out of action for almost a year and last played a T20I at home against South Africa in September 2019. He then missed the tests against the same opponent, the home series against Bangladesh and the West Indies, a T20I series against Sri Lanka and ODIs against Australia at home, as well as the entire New Zealand tour earlier this year.

With another 10 months for the ICC T20 World Championship, Pandya had indicated on Friday that bowling is something he wants to do with long-term goals and big events in mind.
