World News – USA – James Williams leads Miami Hurricanes and pledges to recruit QB Jake Garcia

. .

The Miami Hurricanes 2021 recruitment class currently ranks 13th nationwide. Space, but without a quarterback commit. The five-star athlete James Williams, slated to play security, linebacker, or striker in college, leads the Miami commits in 2021 to beat USC four-star QB Jake Garcia.

Garcia is one of two QBs tied to USC for 2021. Four-star QB Miller Moss joined the Trojans in May after Garcia was signed to USC in September 2019. Garcia has visited Miami twice. One of these visits took place during Paradise Camp in June 2019. That was under the old offensive regime.

Rhett Lashlee, New Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator and QBs trainer, visited Garcia earlier this year and was still in touch with the current Georgia resident. Garcia plays for Grayson High School outside of Atlanta after transferring from Valdosta High School, where he moved from Atlanta.

After California postponed high school soccer until spring, Garcia left Golden State to play in Georgia this fall. Garcia is scheduled to register early with USC in January. The expectation would likely be the same if Garcia freaked out to Miami. Sun-Sentinel’s David Furones spoke to Williams and Miami Northwestern TE Khalil Brantley.

« I’m after him. I’ll do my best to get it . . . He’s still trying [to say he’s with USC]. I’ll leave it to God. ”

Garcia has been steadfast in his commitment to USC. He finally got playtime at Grayson this season after the California schools postponed their season and Garcia was declared ineligible in Valdosta. Garcia is the 39. Player and the fifth pro-style QB and player in Georgia in 2021. Brantley spoke to Furones.

« I’m still trying to get to Jake Garcia while he’s doing his thing up there at Grayson. I’ll just keep working on it and see when the pressure comes when Signing Day is here. I feel like we’re still at it. ”

Miami has four Scholarship QBs on the list. Starter D’Eriq King is likely to hit the NFL after this season. The Hurricanes also have second team Redshirt junior QB N’Kosi Perry, Redshirt newbie Peyton Matocha and real newbie Tyler VanDyke. With the additional year granted by the NCAA, eligibility remains in 2021.

Perry is on his way to graduation and could hit the transfer portal to look for other ways to definitely earn game time. As things stand today, Perry and VanDyke would be the favorites to be the starters in 2021. If King doesn’t return, Manny Diaz and Lashlee could look for a QB on the 2021 transfer portal.
