World News – USA – Macy’s 2020 Thanksgiving Day Parade: How to Watch and What It Will Look Like

The show continues. There won’t be student marching bands or crowds on the sidewalk, but there will be plenty of Pikachu, Tom and Jerry, the boss baby, and more.

Thanksgiving will look different in many ways in 2020, and that includes the traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. But the spectacular Christmas festival will happen and it will continue to be televised live, so home cooks can tune in as they prepare their socially distant turkey meals. Here’s how to go about it and what to expect this year.

Macy’s has teamed up with the City of New York in an attempt to make this year’s parade safe without sacrificing the spectacle.

« To avoid having large crowds gather along our traditional 2. 5-mile route in New York City, we’ve shortened the route to focus solely on the final section of our annual march, « a company representative said in a statement. « On Thanksgiving Day, we’ll showcase the signature balloons, floats, performances of our annual celebration, and announce the arrival of Santa Claus in front of Macy’s famous flagship store on 34th Street for our national television special on NBC. « 

In other words, don’t go to the store, New Yorkers – stay home and check out the balloons and float on TV or online.

The company is also reducing the number of attendees, testing them for COVID-19, and recording performances that are usually live. Participants will wear masks and social distancing, student marching bands will not participate this year, and the annual Thanksgiving balloon inflation celebration will not be held.

A selection of the typical balloons with giant characters will still be available, but instead of being flown by 80 to 100 human handlers, they will be flown by special vehicles that involve fewer people.

I have to catch them all: the audience will see a troupe of dancing Pikachu and a massive Pikachu balloon. And there’s a special reason for all of the Pikachu passion, but the Pokémon Company won’t say what it is until the parade begins. This is the 20th. Year in a row that a Pikachu balloon will be part of the parade.

Don’t throw your shot away. There will be performances by the cast of the blockbuster musical Hamilton, as well as other musicals including Ain’t Too Proud, Jagged Little Pill and Mean Girls. The Radio City Rockettes will also perform.

Lifelong Vacation Movies have many avid fans, and this year the network is participating in the parade for the first time. Its float resembles a charming small town square, as seen in many movies, and offers enough (fake, we suspect) snow to be 9. 000 snowballs to produce. Tori Kelly will perform on the wagon.

But maybe you prefer the Hallmark Channel vacation movies? This network features a cart resembling a 3-D Christmas countdown calendar, with surprises behind each December date marked, a central fireplace, and a performance by Pentatonix.

The business-ready Boss Baby from the 2010 book, 2017 movie, and 2018 Netflix series will bring his big head and serious demeanor to the parade. It’ll be a new balloon this year, spreading the early hype for the planned 2021 sequel The Boss Baby: Family Business.

There will be a combination of live action and animated Tom and Jerry movies in 2021 if the pandemic allows. The famous fighting cat and mouse makes a comedic appearance in the parade this year. In keeping with the duo’s slapstick story, the swimmer looks like he’s crashed and features a gag that Tom inflates on. Meowza!

The parade will air on NBC from 9 a.m. on Thursday. m. by noon in all time zones.
