World News – USA – Nearly 1 million crock-pot pressure cookers have been recalled due to risk of burns

. .

The company is recalling its Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, which were sold at major retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, and Amazon from July 2017 through earlier this month.

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, Sunbeam’s crockpots can be pressurized before the lid is fully locked. The lid of the crock pot can then come off during cooking, which creates the risk of burns from hot food and the expulsion of liquid from the pressure cooker.

Sunbeam has received 119 reports of lids being removed and 99 reports of burns due to the malfunction. The CPSC recommends that crockpot owners « stop immediately » when in pressure cooker mode, although other functions such as slow cooking and frying remain safe.

The defective crock pots have date codes between K196JN and K365JN and between L001JN and L273JN. Crock pot owners can find this code on a pin in the electrical connector at the base of the device.

Crock-Pot offers replacement lids free of charge to customers and owners of the product should remember this. Casserole. com or call the company during business hours at 800-323-9519 for more information.
