Alabama could have one of its most talented defenders for Saturday’s SEC championship game against. Florida, according to head coach Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide trainer updated the status of linebacker Christian Harris during a live appearance on College GameDay from Atlanta.
« We’ll make a game day decision, » said Saban. « He was able to practice this week. It’s just, he feels, and we believe that he can go out there and do his job effectively on the injury, the shoulder injury he’s having. ”
Harris left Alabama’s win over Arkansas after the first defensive game after injuring his shoulder in a tackle. Harris, Alabama’s top linebacker alongside Dylan Moses, has recorded 65 tackles (44 solo), 2. 5 sacks and two pass separations this fall.
Saban confirmed that Harris was practicing on his radio appearance earlier this week and that the Crimson Tide will make a decision on his availability ahead of the game.
« Well I think this is probably the toughest challenge we’ve had all season, » said Saban. « When it comes to the quality of the players Florida has, they are mismatched players all over the field. Tight End Kyle Pitts is a difficult matchup, Toney is a difficult matchup. You have a few running backs who are really capable receivers outside of the backfield.
« With motions and shifts, they create a lot of scenarios where you can turn the wrong people on the wrong guys pretty easily. “So it’s pretty difficult. I think we did the execution better and not made as many mental mistakes, and I think that will be really critical in this game, even though it may be more complicated to execute. ”
