Hospice Provider Nursing Team has acquired the & hospice from InTeliCare Home Health in Michigan for an undisclosed amount. The Care Team is a portfolio company of Denver-based private equity firm Revelstoke Capital Partners.
In addition to hospice care, the care team offers home care services, physiotherapy, home care as well as speech and occupational therapy. The company also employs medical social workers. Revelstoke acquired the company in October 2019, at which point it indicated that expanding into new markets would be a priority.
“[The Care Team] has made significant investments in corporate infrastructure to achieve additional scalability and improve patient care. We have a strong partnership with the management of the Care Team and look forward to working with them on this transformative acquisition, ”said Russ Cassella, Managing Partner at Revelstoke.
The InTeliCare transaction is The Care Team’s first acquisition since partnering with Revelstoke. Currently, the company’s growth plans are focused on the Great Lakes region. InTeliCare’s previous owners Irene Tuttle and Todd Josephson will remain with the company in advisory roles.
The transaction extends the care team’s reach across the lower peninsula of Michigan, where InTeliCare operates three locations. The company intends to leverage its greater geographic footprint in negotiating with payers and referral partners. Size and scope can be important considerations for payers as they choose hospices to work with, particularly under Medicare Advantage. Health plans often prefer to work with providers who can cover a broad region.
