Pope Francis on Tuesday appointed Bishop Michael William Fisher, currently serving as auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Washington, D. . C.. . as Bishop of the Diocese of Buffalo, USA.
Bishop Fisher earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of Maryland in 1984 and was a CPA before entering the seminar. He completed his ecclesiastical studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminar in Emmitsburg, MD (1986-1990)
Fisher was born on Jan.. Ordained to the priesthood of the Archdiocese of Washington in June 1990.
After his ordination, Fisher was parish vicar of the Sacred Heart Congregation in La Plata (1990-1995). Pastor of the Sacred Heart Congregation in Hillcrest Heights (1995-1999); Pastor of the parish of Saint John Neumann in Gaithersburg (1999-2005); and Vicar General (2005-2006). Since 2006 he has been vicar for clergy and secretary for ministerial leadership.
Michael Fisher was born on Aug.. Appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington on June 29, 2018. Consecrated an episcopate on June 6 of the same year.
