Real Madrid will host Alavés on Saturday to take their first league win in three games.

Los Blancos drew and lost the last two games. The last victory was recorded at the end of October. This isn’t all that alarming though, as the club has a week off between those times. Real also won two games against Inter in the Champions League during this period.

Despite the difficult form of the league, Real are still fourth in the table and six points behind Real Sociedad, the leading player in the league. You are only three points behind the second.

Alavés is at the other end of the table. You are currently 15. , along with two other clubs on points. They have drawn their last three league games.

Historically, Real have played well against Alavés, with the club winning 12 of their last 13 La Liga games against the Basques. The last time Real lost to Alavés was in 2018. Real have not lost to Alavés at home since 2000.

Real sustained another injury before Saturday, Dani Carvajal was injured again. Alvaro Odriozola, Sergio Ramos, Fede Valverde, Luka Jović and Karim Benzema also stay outside.

With Carvajal out and leaving Real without a right-back this season, it is most likely that Lucas Vazquez will return to the vacant starting place. Eder Militão may not be ready to start yet, so Nacho will likely be needed to fill Ramos’ absence.

With Vazquez on the right, the winning point on the right remains open. There is a possibility that Marco Asensio will start against Alavés. Martin Ødegaard is an option to join the attack as well. Mariano will likely continue to stand up for Benzema.

This is a win-win game for Real Madrid and should be back in the winning column at home. Real have remained clean in their last five games against Alavés in LaLiga. Despite the injuries, Real should be able to score a win based on the historic matchup.

It will certainly not be easy with a battered line-up, but Real can make progress with three points. The last two league games have been against clubs in the upper tables, so this is more of an inviting sight.

Real cannot afford to lose points on Saturday as Sociedad and Atlético play well. These clubs have won at least their last five games and the gap will only widen if this stretch is continued for both sides.

The available players must be reinforced in the absence of their injured teammates to score a win and three required points. They made it against Inter, which has to be reflected in a league game at Di Stéfano.
