World News – USA – Real Madrid Transfer News: Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez are heading for the exit door with no contract negotiations in sight

The Merengues hierarchy has yet to start contract negotiations with the couple

Real Madrid have yet to start contract negotiations with Luka Modric or Lucas Vazquez as their contracts at the Bernabeu expire.

In January, Modric and Vazquez can negotiate contracts to join other clubs at the end of the season, as their contracts in Madrid will expire in June 2021.

Both players started in the 2-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan during the week and have played regularly under Zinedine Zidane this season.

However, according to Marca, the Madrid hierarchy has yet to take steps to negotiate contract extensions for the couple.

Former Tottenham midfielder Modric, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, turned 35 in September and has announced that he would like to retire with Los Blancos.

Zidane is said to be interested in renewing the Croatian international’s deal but he has to keep impressing on the pitch before he can convince the decision makers at the Bernabeu.

Vazquez has recently become a regular at Zidane after getting in good form, but the winger is also waiting for the club to approach the new conditions.

The most famous player with an expiring contract at the club is Sergio Ramos, but the outlet believes the captain won’t leave.

Ramos would like his renewal to be longer than a year and financial terms require some negotiation, but his departure is not expected.

The point of sale also notes that Nacho Fernandez’s situation should be monitored as the center-back’s deal expires in June 2022 but he hasn’t been approached about a new contract either.

Boss Zidane is said to be interested in getting all four players to sign new deals, but he’ll have to wait to understand where their future lies.
