Sunbeam Products, the manufacturer, received 119 reports of the lid peeling off, resulting in 99 injuries ranging in severity from first to third degree burns.
CPSC warned, « The recalled crock-pot multicooker may be pressurized if the lid is not fully locked. This can cause the lid to suddenly come off during use of the product and burn consumers from hot food and liquids expelled from the product. «
Customers are encouraged to contact the company for a free replacement lid and « use the recalled crock-pot in pressure cooker mode immediately » while still allowing the product to be used for slow cooking and frying.
« Consumers who continue to use the multicooker in pressure cooker mode while waiting for the replacement lid should ensure that the lid is securely rotated to the fully locked position by aligning the arrow on the lid with the lock symbol on the base. « CPSC said.

The product was sold at Walmart, Target, and other retail stores across the country, as well as Amazon and other online retailers, from July 2017 through November 2020, at prices ranging from $ 70 to $ 100.
