World News – USA – Tampa reports boiling water after plumbing cut on Monday

. . The water pressure in other parts of the city is dropping due to the break.

Some streets in Tampa were flooded Monday afternoon after a David L transmission line. The water treatment plant in Tippin was hit by a third party, according to city officials.

A citywide notice about boiling water was released Monday afternoon as some streets, such as 30th Street north of Sligh Avenue, were flooded with knee-high water.

Residents should bring the water to a boil and bring it to a boil for a minute before consuming. It’s also safe to add 1/8 teaspoon of bleach for a gallon of tap water and let stand 30 minutes before drinking. A non-perfumed household bleach is recommended. Water purification tablets and iodine, commonly sold in camping and sports stores, are another safe alternative.

Some parts of Tampa had low water pressure due to the main break. According to a press release, Tampa Water Department employees were trying to stabilize the pressure so they can begin repairing the break.

Although there are no formal road closures yet, Eli Franco, a spokesman for the water department, said people should avoid the area around 30th Street North and Hillsborough Avenue.

Along with the cook notice, residents were told to turn off all automatic water meters and sprinklers to conserve water.

When Karen Kress went to pick up her three sons from school, there wasn’t a drop of water on the street. When she returned, she and the children had to wade through cold knee-high water to get to her home.

Kress and her husband Chris Loy said the water flowed into 30th Street near their home. The couple have lived behind the water treatment plant for years and said although a lot of work has been done lately, there has never been such a break. Kress called it more of an adventure than anything, and her sons joked about taking pipes to go down the deep and fast-flowing water.

« When we had to cross the street, the current was strong enough that I almost lost my balance. « Said Kress.
