DAYTON – Chase Johnson, a red shirt junior striker for the University of Dayton Men’s basketball team, announced that he will be leaving the program Wednesday.
Johnson announced on his Instagram account that he is leaving the team for health reasons.
« ???? Unfortunately, after careful review and consultation with my family and doctor, I have decided that it is in my best interest to step back from basketball and focus on my health and school. « Said Johnson.
â ???? It was a very difficult decision. But after a long road of obstacles, I realized that my health means more to me than anything else. â ????
When Johnson returned to the program in July after a spring medical vacation, he started all five games, an average of 12. 2 points and 6. 0 rebounds.
â ???? Chase has our full support in his decision. We wish him all the best in his life and are grateful for his contributions to the University of Dayton and Flyer Basketball. â ????
Johnson thanked Grant, all of the basketball staff, and all of the Flyer fans for their continued support throughout his journey.
â ???? I am overjoyed to have the opportunity and I will forever be grateful for the time I spent at the University of Dayton. Coach Grant is a great coach and mentor and I cannot thank him enough for everything. â ????
