SMITHFIELD, R. . I. – The percentages usually favor a basketball team that does the things Wagner College did on Wednesday.

Wagner had ruled edges on the backboards and on second chance points, and his defensive scheme kept the pace almost up to his liking, but faulty shots and bad suffering prevented the Seahawks from turning this to their advantage in their northeast conference opening, a 74-62 loss to Bryant.

Senior Elijah Ford led Wagner with 23 points, newcomer Elijah Allen with 15 and senior Alex Morales with 10 points. Peter Kiss scored 22 points to lead the Bulldogs (5-2, 2-1 NEC), Chris Childs had 14 points and Hall Elisias had 12 points.

The game tipped Bryant’s path to the limit of the foul. Bryant made 20 of 29 fouls. Wagner was 3 for 9.
