Our final opportunity to weigh FC Dallas’s 2020 action. Did any FC Dallas player impress in their 1-0 loss to Seattle?

While some were hoping for a wide-open game like last season’s 4-3 defeat, it was a nervous, mostly defensive sound game from start to finish. There were positives and negatives. And the big question we’re going to be asking ourselves over the coming weeks is whether 2020 Dallas was better than 2019 Dallas.

Even though Andres Ricaurte missed a rebound and a clear goal, he really impressed me for putting together his best game as a FC Dallas player. He was dangerous. He was cool and comfortable on the ball. He was ready for that match in Seattle, not at all intimidated as he led the attack.

If the Seattle defender hadn’t pulled together at the last minute, Dallas FC would have drawn.

You can’t blame our youth either. Tanner Tessmann was solid, although it looked like it took him a few minutes to get into the game. Bryan Reynolds struggled a little, but had some of the same problems on the artificial turf against Portland. The key is that Reynolds did enough to silence Jordan Morris and Nicolas Lodeiro.

Overall, you cannot fault our defense either. It took a corner goal and a split second of concentration to put Seattle in the lead. Otherwise, Bressan, Hedges, Reynolds, and Nelson did their jobs, holding Seattle in front of them. Jimmy Maurer had another solid performance in goal and even managed to meet Shane O’Neil’s goal.

If there is one negative, it will be the same for all of 2020. No goals. An offensive that a defense in Seattle that was ready to bunker once mounted could not crack. It’s the problem with FC Dallas, the clear lack of creative ability in the final third. Franco Jara sniffed some shots and we really couldn’t get enough of the wings.

While the effort was there, the offense remains a great job in the works. Hopefully 2021 will bring some new faces and give this team more opportunities to band together.

I recommend Andres Ricaurte and Matt Hedges especially for players who have reached the full 90.

what do you think? Vote below and in a few weeks we’ll find out Dallas FC’s Workhorse of the Year.
