World news – Victorians warned of water conditions yesterday after three separate drownings


A woman drowned in Venus Bay trying to help a girl who was fighting in the water on Wednesday night.

The woman in her twenties was pulled out of the water by an off duty lifeguard and could not be resuscitated .

Others, including the girl she tried to help, made it back to shore safely.

Meanwhile, one woman died and five others were killed after an incident in Bushrangers Bay near by Cape Schanck was hospitalized on Wednesday afternoon.

The Westpac rescuer was called in to help a group that was swept off the rocks in the bay.

Life-saving Victoria says while the beach is « moderately safe The waves are low, « people should stay away from the rocks.

Earlier in the day, a man in his eighties was dragged unconscious from the water on a beach in Tootgarook.
