JAIPUR: The fast bowler Shardul Thakur completed a batting masterclass in the current Vijay Hazare Trophy against Himachal Pradesh on Monday to smash 92 runs with 57 balls – also his first half century in cricket List A – when Mumbai had an all-out 200-run win.

Opening bats Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prithvi Shaw and skipper Shreyas Iyer were all back at the hut in four overs. Shardul, who took the bat at Mumbai at 148/5, saw six sixes and as many fours to steer his side to 321/9 in the allocated 50 overs.

Shardul, who is on the T20I roster for the England series, hit its half century in 39 balls and then unleashed the beast within. The Pacer shattered 42 runs in its last 17 balls to bring Mumbai to 321.

Suryakumar Yadav and Aditya Tare also shattered their respective half centuries to help Mumbai break the 300-run mark. Suryakumar was recently called up to the national team for the first time and has since left no stone unturned to demonstrate his skills.

Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh by 200 runs to continue their unbeaten streak in the current tournament. Shams Mulani picked three while Prashant Solanki scalped four wickets to score an easy win for Mumbai.

Last week, Shreyas smashed 116 eleven fours and three sixes en route to a 103 ball to give Mumbai a total of 317 in the allotted 50 overs.

After his not-so-good performance in Australia, Shreyas made sure he got the most out of the Vijay Hazare games to get into the groove ahead of the T20I series against England.

In the meantime, the first T20I will be played between India and England on March 12th after the end of the current test series. Both teams are preparing for the fourth and final test, which begins on March 4th.

Short results: Mumbai 321/9 (Suryakumar Yadav 91, Shardul Thakur 92; Rishi Dhawan 4-84); Himachal Pradesh 121 (Praveen Thakur 22, Ekant Sen 21; Prashant Solanki 4-31)
