A woman drowned and a man went missing after the couple went swimming on a Gold Coast beach Thursday night.
Ambulance services were called to Kurrawa Beach in Broadbeach at around 10:15 p.m. after a woman’s body washed up on the beach.
The woman and a man went swimming on the beach earlier that night, said a police spokeswoman.
At 1.30 a.m. on Friday, the man was still missing and the police had initiated a search and rescue operation.

The court heard that the Stanthorpe man was 15 at the time and said he was « tormented » by memories of the attacks.
