World news – Workers seriously injured in explosion at Ramapo College


A construction worker was seriously injured in an explosion Tuesday morning at Ramapo College, New Jersey in Mahwah.

Mahwah firefighters pulled the welder out after the explosion during a pressure test in the RCNJ library on Ramapo Valley Road just after 8 a.m.

A helicopter was canceled due to the weather and he was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center with severe head trauma by ambulance.

The emergency services included community and police officers a hazardous materials department in the district of Bergen. The Bergen District Attorney’s Office and OSHA have been notified.

Firefighters on site or in cover included firefighters from Wyckoff, Hillburn and Suffern.
