Zack Snyder is developing a film that retells the legend of King Arthur. King Arthur is a popular 5th century medieval character, and Arthurian legend has inspired many works of art, including comics, television series, and films. The latest adaptation is the 2017 Guy Ritchie film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Snyder, best known for making films like Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, and Man of Steel , has the highly anticipated four-hour Director’s Cut of the Justice League ahead of its release. Additionally, Army of the Dead, a film he wrote, directed, and produced will premiere on Netflix later this year.
In an interview with Minutemen, Snyder confirmed that he is investigating a King Arthur project . « I’m working on something, but we’ll see. I’ve been thinking of some kind of retelling, like [a] real kind of faithful retelling of this Arthurian mythological concept. We’ll see. Maybe it will come sometime. »
There are, however no information about when he would like to realize the project or what action he would like to take on. Especially in Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice there were many references to the Arthurian film Excalibur from 1982.
