WWE star James Harris, aka Kamala, dead at 70

According to the WWE and CNN, Harris, dubbed the "Ugandan Giant," began performing for the then-World Wrestling Federation in 1984 following stints with Mid-South Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling and other circuits.

Iconic wrestler James Harris, better known as Kamala, has died, World Wrestling Entertainment announced Sunday. He was 70.

According to the WWE and CNN, Harris, dubbed the « Ugandan Giant, » began performing for the then-World Wrestling Federation in 1984 following stints with Mid-South Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling and other circuits. Harris, who stood 6 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed 350 pounds, continued to make appearances with the WWE through 2006, the outlets reported. Two of his most notable opponents were Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, according to CNN.

After learning of Harris’ death, several wrestlers, including the Iron Sheik and Mick Foley, paid tribute to him on Twitter. Here’s what they were saying:
