CM – Jones and Rahal resent an early crash at WWTR

Ask Ed Jones and Graham Rahal, who were to blame for their falls at the end of the race on the third lap of the Bommarito 500 on Saturday night at the World Wide Technology Raceway.

« I was always in front of the corner him, ”Jones said after the two of them walked side by side on Turn 1 and failed to make it into Turn 2, but it’s just unnecessary. It is a great shame. We’re just pushing for the next race. «

Ask Rahal where the blame should be and he will be more explicit on the matter.

» I broke early; he blocked me badly as everyone could see and I broke into [Turn] 1 early to give him plenty of room. He was running out of talent; I don’t know what else to say. It is a full car’s width from the top; Maybe if he thought you knew it was too aggressive, he should have slipped on the brakes sooner and used his head, but he didn’t. It is inexcusable on his behalf to block so early. «

Rahal was credited 23rd place in the number 15 in the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda and lost any distant chance to fight for the championship after finishing sixth in the overall ranking entered the event. Jones left the race just behind Rahal in last place with Dale Coyne Racing’s # 18 with Vasser Sullivan Honda, who finished 20th in the championship and not competed in championships.

The 2021 season marks the 35th year Marshall Pruett has been in the sport. In his current role for RACER, Pruett is a writer, reporter, photographer and filmmaker involved in open-wheel and sports car races. In his previous career, he worked as a mechanic, engineer and team manager on a variety of series including IndyCar, IMSA and World Challenge.
