Fran Kirby scored four goals when Chelsea beat Reading 5-0 in the women’s Super League table on Sunday to take second place. The other five games of the weekend were canceled due to COVID-19 infections and injuries.
Kirby opened the scoring when she walked in unmarked to get Sam Kerr’s shot before hitting goalkeeper Grace in the 16th minute Moloney crossed and kicked the ball home with his right foot. Seven minutes later, she added a second with her left foot.

She finished her hat trick with a neat header at break in the first half before adding another header eight minutes into the second half when Reading’s rearguard collapsed.
A late goal from substitute Ji So-yun completed the game, bringing Chelsea into second place with 23 points from nine games. The league leaders Manchester United has 26 points. The two teams are expected to meet next weekend.
